Striking members of UFCW 401 at McKesson Canada

On Monday June 28th, 2010 members of UFCW 401 went on strike after rejecting the employer’s finial offer. On April 10, 2010 membership rejected the employers by 93% and when the negotiating committee returned to the table the employer returned with even a worse offer asking for even more concessions.

Edmonton & District Labour Council President Brian Henderson (left) hands UFCW
Representative, Al Olinek, a pack of bottled water as Canadian Labour Congress Representative
Tom Kehoe (right) assists.  The E.D.L.C. and the Alberta Federation of Labour purchased
an entire pallet of bottled water recently for the McKesson Canada strikers--members of
UFCW Local 401 who have been on strike since June 28, 2010.
They are fighting for wage fairness, improved benefits, and other dignity and respect issues.
There are no talks scheduled anytime soon and with the hot and humid Edmonton summer,
bottled water is a useful tool to help the picketers battle not only their employer, but the heat as well.
